Why would your data not reside closest to the end user?
- Cost - Often, regional compute costs (international regions) outweigh other factors
- GDPR and Data Sovereignty Laws (Data cannot persist outside of most European countries) is another reason you could pick a region that's not CLOSEST to the end user.
- Encryption standards differ across the globe
