How many app engine instances can I create?

Only one app engine instance is allowed per project.

Disabling and shutting down apps

If you would like to cut down costs for an app engine while not in use - simply go into settings and DISABLE the app.

Alternatively, if the entire project is not being used, you can SHUTDOWN the project itself - which will shut down all resources within.
